Why issue rent receipts at all?
Because memory is a terrible ledger. A tenant pays ₦800,000 by transfer in January; by June, nobody remembers whether that covered the service charge too. A receipt that names the property, the period, the amount in words, and the balance settles the question before it becomes a quarrel - or a court case.
Tenants need them too: for visa applications, loan files, company housing allowances, and (in some countries) rent-based tax relief. Issuing one takes less time than the argument it prevents.

What should a rent receipt include?
The landlord or property manager's name and contact details, the tenant's name, the property address, the rent period covered (for example, 1 Jan 2026 to 31 Dec 2026), a receipt number, the payment date and method, the amount received in figures and in words, and any balance still owed.
Why do tenants ask for rent receipts?
A rent receipt is the tenant's proof of payment. Tenants use them in landlord disputes, for visa and loan applications, for company housing allowances, and in some countries for tax relief claims. A landlord who issues receipts promptly avoids most payment arguments before they start.
Can I issue a receipt for part of the rent?
Yes. Enter the amount actually received and the receipt shows a PART PAYMENT badge with the balance due and the period it covers - a clear record for both landlord and tenant when rent is paid in installments.
Does it show the amount in words?
